In the context of the 150th anniversary of the magnum opus of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati the ‘Sathyarth Prakash’ , the Grand Port Arya Zila Parishad with its Purohit Mandal and in collaboration of Mahebourg Arya Samaj organized a special programme on Sunday 02 June 2024 at 14.00 hrs at Mahebourg Arya Mandir to mark this historical event as well as to pay tribute to the great reformer of modern age Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati .
A ‘brihad yajna’ was performed by all the Purohits and Purohitas of Grand Port district, bhajan were chanted by Grand Port bhajan mandali and several orators addressed this august gathering among whom were: Dr ON Gangoo-Arya Neta, Shri Harrydev Ramdhony-President of Ved Prachar Samiti, Pt G. Chotoree, Pt S. Sayjadah and Pta P. Goreeba., but we also had the honor and privilege to have his Holiness Swami Vedanand Saraswatee as the keynote speaker.
Swami Vedanand ji in a very eloquent way appealed to the audience that we need to preserve the invaluable heritage Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati has left for the development of the whole community. He added that Maharshi inspite of all odds tried to enlighten us by the divine knowledge of the Veda through his Sathyarth Prakash. It is time to read this magnum opus and put the ideas into practice as it is the sole means to discard all the blindfaith, social ills and ignorance affecting the community. Sathyarth Prakash caters solutions to all our problems. It is time to imbibe the teachings of Maharshi to bring the change and it should be now or never. Be the change and help disseminate the values of the Veda.
There was an audience of around 200 devotees who remained spellbound by the impressive address of Swami ji.
At the end the Grand Port Arya Zila Parishad honored all the Purohits/ Purohitas by the offering a
‘shall’ by the hands of Swami ji. A gesture of gratitude for their immense contribution.
